Prosecutor General's Office warns of dangerous measles complication in children

The agency stated that such adverse cases have already been recorded in the country. SSPE was described as a rare but severe late complication of measles, in which the virus causes progressive brain damage several years after the infection has been contracted.

According to the Prosecutor General's Office, the disease progresses through four stages: initially, the child's behavior changes, followed by frequent falls and regular severe seizures; in the third stage, the child stops speaking, and in the fourth, falls into a coma.

To prevent the development of the disease, the prosecution service urged parents to vaccinate children against measles on time. The agency specified that vaccinations are currently administered at the ages of 3, 6, and 12 months.
