General Prosecutor's Office Warned of Dangerous Measles Complication in Children

The General Prosecutor's Office warned of a dangerous complication of measles in children. In the agency, it was stated that in the country, similar adverse cases have already been recorded. SSPE is characterized as a rare but severe late complication of measles, in which, after several years after the transferred infection, the virus causes progressive damage to the brain.

According to the General Prosecutor's Office, the disease progresses in four stages: first, the child's behavior changes, then frequent falls and regular severe seizures occur, at the third stage, the child stops speaking, and at the fourth stage, they fall into a coma.

To prevent the development of the disease, the prosecutor's office called for timely vaccination of children against measles. In the agency, it was clarified that currently, vaccinations are carried out at the ages of 3, 6, and 12 months.
