Mirziyoyev announces bonuses for medics and free residency from 2027

Nurses and nurse assistants with a bachelor's degree will receive a bonus of 1.5 million soum, medical workers with a master's degree - 2.5 million soum, and narrow-profile specialists in family medicine - 5.5 million soum. It is not specified when these payments will start and under what conditions. A separate bonus is provided for state registration: 7 million soum for doctors and pharmacists and 3.5 million soum for mid-level medical personnel. Registration will be launched on July 1, 2027, on a voluntary basis, and from 2030 it will become mandatory.

According to the president, 11 state universities annually graduate 15,000 doctors, but not all of them are ready to work independently with patients immediately. From 2027, medical university students will learn to work with patients three days a week, and the last year of study will be spent entirely on practice in medical institutions. Residency in narrow specialties will become free from 2027, and residents will receive a stipend of 3 million soum. The training period will range from two years for family medicine to five years for surgery.

In 2026, regional competitions for the best doctor and best nurse at the district level are being held for the first time, their winners will receive 30 million soum each. In 2027, 14 doctors who won the regional stage will be awarded electric cars, and the authors of the top 10 projects on a healthy lifestyle will receive grants of 200 million soum each. The president also announced the introduction of the "Medical Standards of New Uzbekistan" and the phased free issuance of special clothing to primary healthcare workers.
