Car manufacturer ADM Jizzakh and South Korean company DK&G have concluded an agreement on the industrial outfitting of a complete knock-down (CKD) assembly shop for hybrid and electric vehicles, the ADM Global press service reported.

According to the company, up to $100 million will be invested in the construction of the shop (UzDaily, citing ADM Global, cites an amount of around $100 million). The new production facility is already being built on the territory of ADM Jizzakh. It is planned to assemble Changan hybrids and electric vehicles there, primarily the UNI-E, as well as Chery and Haval brand vehicles.

CKD assembly covers the full cycle: body welding and painting, final assembly, and quality inspection of the finished vehicle. Currently, internal combustion engine Kia models are manufactured under this scheme at ADM Jizzakh; as UzDaily writes, DK&G also participated in outfitting that production line. The company highlights the ability to assemble vehicles from multiple brands on a single conveyor belt as a distinctive feature of the new complex, a solution the two companies' engineers will develop jointly. They intend to supply the products to both the domestic and foreign markets.

ADM Global plans to launch several hybrid and electric vehicle models in Uzbekistan with a high level of localization and to phase in an increased share of local components. Daniyar Davletiyarov, CEO of ADM Global, described the company's task as shaping a "modern industrial ecosystem uniting automotive manufacturing, component production, the development of in-house engineering competencies, and the implementation of advanced technologies."

What it means

At the new ADM Jizzakh facility, there are plans to produce Changan (primarily UNI-E), Chery, and Haval hybrids and electric vehicles for the Uzbekistan market and for export. The production launch dates were not specified in the company's announcements.
