Competition Committee designates Uklon as dominant player in taxi market

The status applies to the market for "intermediary (aggregator) services for placing orders for passenger transport (taxis) and providing taxi services." To prevent abuse, the committee will introduce an antitrust compliance system into the company's operations and conduct monitoring.

In October 2024, the same status was assigned to YandexGo UB, Yandex Eats, and Express24 APP. A platform is recognized as dominant if its revenue exceeds 100,000 base calculation values (44 billion soums), the number of active end users exceeds 50,000 per month, or business users exceed 3,000 per month, and if its share in a specific market exceeds 40%.

Operators with this status are prohibited from engaging in more than 20 types of actions that restrict competition or infringe upon the rights and interests of users. Violations carry a fine of 5% of turnover, and company executives can face administrative liability.

Uklon launched operations in Tashkent in June 2023. In mid-October, the committee announced it would examine the situation in the taxi aggregator market and their pricing: the agency took note of surging fares during rush hours amid technical disruptions at Yandex Go.
