Apple to Replace iPhone 18 Pro Max for Free Due to Cellular Connection Malfunction

After the malfunction occurs, smartphones lose access to voice calls, text messages, and mobile internet. AT&T clarified that in the absence of coverage of third-party cellular networks, even emergency calls become unavailable on smartphones. According to Apple, the incident affected a small number of devices.

For protection of devices that have not yet been affected, Apple released an update to iOS 27.0.1, and the AT&T operator began delivering adjusted network parameters, which will be loaded onto devices within 14 days. However, for smartphones that have already lost their signal, these measures do not work: neither installing new firmware nor changing settings restores the modem's operation.

In this regard, Apple and AT&T offered customers a free exchange of faulty devices for new ones. The problem is fixed exclusively on the American version of the flagship, equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon X80 modem, while on basic iPhone 18 Pro and devices on other providers' networks, a similar defect has not been found.
