Uzbekistan: Tighter Entry Rules to Egypt Postponed Until March 2027

Until the specified date, citizens of Uzbekistan can travel to Egypt under the current rules. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the revision of the previous decision was achieved through direct negotiations between the ministry and the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Egypt with the Egyptian side.

The postponed procedure provided for obtaining a visa in advance at Egyptian diplomatic missions and tourist trips only through authorized tour operators. Tourists under the age of 40 were allowed to enter only with close relatives - parents, spouses, or children, and the family had to have at least $5,000 in cash. Those over 40 who traveled alone were required to have $3,000 with them. At the border, it was necessary to show a hotel reservation, mobile phone data, and proof of funds, and without a full package of documents, tourists could be denied entry and sent back on the same flight. It was not possible to change a tourist visa to a different type of visa while in Egypt. According to Gazeta.uz, a preliminary visa was required, among other things, for trips to Sharm el-Sheikh and other areas of the Sinai Peninsula.

The ministry added that they continue to work with foreign partners on visa-free regimes and simplification of trips. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also called on citizens traveling abroad to comply with the laws and visa rules of other countries and to respect their customs.
