The Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan has exempted mobile speed cameras from the requirement to be marked with a 'Radar' sign. The change is enshrined in government resolution No. 596 of October 29, 2026.

Now, the warning sign is only required for stationary speed cameras. It must be installed no closer than 250 and no farther than 500 meters from such a device, as well as at the location of the device. A similar amendment has been made to clause 5.43 of the Traffic Rules. According to Uznews, the new procedure has been in effect since November 1.

The mandatory sign in front of radars appeared on September 1, 2025. It was introduced by resolution No. 318 of May 15, 2025, adopted to create 'additional conveniences for the population when using vehicles'. Until the current changes, the requirement applied to both stationary and mobile devices.

The government cites the reduction of traffic rule violations through the more advanced application of photo and video recording means as the purpose of the amendments.

As noted by Gazeta.uz, the same document also provides that unbuckled seatbelts will be recorded by entrepreneurs' cameras. In addition, traffic police inspectors will no longer consider it a violation to cross a solid line 50 meters before an intersection and 20 meters before a U-turn.

What it means

The 'Radar' sign is now mandatory only in front of stationary speed cameras - at a distance of 250 to 500 meters from them. Mobile radars can operate without a warning sign. According to Uznews, the norm has been in effect since November 1.
