Carriers booking a slot in the electronic queue at three checkpoints on the Kazakh-Uzbek border will have to deposit a guarantee amount of 20 monthly calculation indices (MCI), the State Revenue Department for the Turkestan Region of Kazakhstan said.

The new procedure will come into force on November 9, 2026, at the Kazygurt, B. Konysbayev, and Atameken checkpoints. The amount of 20 monthly calculation indices stands at 86,500 tenge, which is around 2.3 million soums. A slot can only be booked if these funds are available in the carrier's dedicated electronic account. Information about the innovation was also disseminated by the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan.

When a vehicle arrives at the checkpoint at the scheduled time, the funds are automatically refunded in full. However, if a carrier fails to appear at the booked time twice in a row within 90 calendar days, the deposit will not be refunded, and the money will be transferred to Kazakhstan's state budget. According to the department, the measure aims to prevent fictitious bookings and artificial queues at border crossings, as well as increase the accountability of international carriers. The department urged transport companies to plan trips in advance and ensure the required balance is maintained in their accounts.

As Kursiv Uzbekistan clarifies, booking is carried out via the CarGoRuqsat system. It is intended for freight trucks, including semi-trailer trucks and tractor units, while passenger cars and buses do not require a booking. The system operates on Kazakhstan's borders with Uzbekistan, China, Turkmenistan, Russia, and Kyrgyzstan.

What it means

Starting November 9, 2026, freight carriers must have 86,500 tenge (about 2.3 million soums) in an electronic account to book a slot at the Kazygurt, B. Konysbayev, and Atameken checkpoints. The money is refunded in full upon arriving on time; after two consecutive no-shows within 90 calendar days, the deposit is forfeited to the budget of Kazakhstan. Passenger cars and buses are exempt from booking.
