Uzbekistan ranked 77th in Global Innovation Index 2026

Uzbekistan has risen by two positions and ranked 77th among 139 countries in the Global Innovation Index 2026. This was reported by the Agency for Innovative Development under the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education.

In the subindex of innovative resources, the country took 68th place, improving the indicator by one position over the year. In the subindex of innovation performance, Uzbekistan rose by 14 points, ranking 78th.

In individual indicators, the republic entered the number of world leaders: 2nd place in the number of graduates in the field of science and technology (engineering), 3rd in entrepreneurial policy and culture, 4th in financing startups and scalable companies, as well as 7th in labor productivity growth. In the regional cut, Uzbekistan became 4th among 11 states of Central and South Asia, and in the category of countries with a below-average income level, it took 8th place out of 36.

The study is formed annually by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in partnership with the Portulans Institute, analyzing about 80 indicators. In 2025, Uzbekistan ranked 79th out of 139, and when first included in 2015, it was in 122nd place out of 141.
