Mozilla releases Firefox 157 with updated Nova interface

Mozilla has released Firefox 157 with an updated Nova interface. The developers announced the release of the new version on September 29 in the company's blog. The interface has received more rounded shapes of tabs, panels, and menus, an updated address bar, icons, and pastel color gradients. In Windows and macOS, the new design is activated by default, in Linux it needs to be enabled manually, and if desired, users can deactivate it through the about:config settings.

The compact mode has also returned to the browser, allowing users to reduce the margins on tool panels and tabs to save space on small displays. Mozilla stated that the visual changes will not affect the program's performance.

Among the technical innovations, the company added support for hardware decoding of the AV1 format for video calls via WebRTC on compatible equipment. Additionally, issues with displaying HDR video have been resolved, and Amazon has been excluded from the list of pre-installed search engines.
