"Yandex" stops releasing updates for "Yandex Messenger"

The company "Yandex" has stopped releasing updates for individual applications of the "Yandex Messenger" service, having completely transferred its functions to "Telemost". Representatives of the company informed the TASS agency about this.

The "Yandex Messenger" applications themselves will continue to function, but new versions for them will no longer be released. The main direction of development will be "Telemost", where chats, calls, and video conferences are now integrated.

Contacts, message archives, and attached files are automatically transferred to "Telemost". The service will remain free for text messaging and making video calls.

"Yandex Messenger" was launched in 2020 based on the "Yandex Chats" service, and later became part of the corporate package "Yandex 360". The transfer of options to "Telemost" was announced at the end of 2025, and by the current moment, the process has been completed on all platforms. According to the company, as a result of the first half of 2026, the audience of "Telemost" exceeded 8 million people.
