CXMT begins mass production of fifth-generation DRAM memory

The Chinese semiconductor manufacturer CXMT announced the start of mass production of fifth-generation DRAM memory chips on the G5 technology platform. The announcement was made at the World Manufacturing Conference in Hefei. According to the company, the new technology platform has reduced the distance between key elements of the cell array to 11.95 nm using the SAQP four-fold patterning technology. At the same time, the manufacturer introduced two LPDDR5X memory chips with a capacity of 24 Gbit per crystal, oriented towards smartphones and portable electronics. According to CXMT, they contain 50% more data compared to similar solutions of the company's previous generation and are already being produced in series. The company noted that the potential number of chips on one silicon plate before defect rejection has increased by at least 50% compared to the fourth generation of the platform.
