School holidays in Uzbekistan 2026–2027: dates of autumn, winter, and spring breaks
In the 2026/27 academic year, school holidays in Uzbekistan are as follows: autumn — from 4 to 9 November 2026, winter — from 28 December 2026 to 10 January 2027, spring — from 21 to 27 March 2027, summer — from the end of May to 1 September 2027.
| Holidays | Dates | Days | Next day of classes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Autumn | 4 November (Wednesday) – 9 November 2026 (Monday) | 6 | 10 November, Tuesday |
| Winter | 28 December 2026 (Monday) – 10 January 2027 (Sunday) | 14 | 11 January, Monday |
| Spring | 21 March (Sunday) – 27 March 2027 (Saturday) | 7 | 29 March, Monday |
| Summer | end of May – 1 September 2027 (Wednesday), the start depends on the grade | — | 2 September, Thursday |
Only the autumn dates are confirmed so far. The winter and spring dates have been calculated under the Cabinet of Ministers resolution: we have not yet found any ministerial announcements regarding them. This reference applies only to schools: the resolution does not set holidays for colleges, lyceums, or higher education institutions.
How the dates were calculated
The rule is in paragraph 26 of the Regulations on General Secondary Education (Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 140 of 15 March 2017). It establishes the first day and the number of calendar days. The first day is included in the count, so the last day is the start date plus the number of days minus one.
- Autumn: from 4 November, 6 calendar days, last day 9 November. The same dates and the start of term II on 10 November are stated in the t.me/uzedu channel announcement of 18 October.
- Winter: from 28 December, 14 calendar days, last day 10 January. In 2025, the announcement concerning winter holidays was published on 4 December.
- Spring: from 21 March, 7 calendar days, last day 27 March. The following day, 28 March, is Sunday, so classes will resume on Monday, 29 March. This is our calculation based on the calendar. A similar case occurred in January 2026: holidays ran until 10 January, 11 January was Sunday, and classes resumed on 12 January.
- Summer: from the day of the final stage control test, and in grades without such tests — from the day following the end of the academic year. Summer holidays end on 1 September, and the new academic year begins on 2 September. Paragraph 26 does not specify which grades take such tests and when: this needs to be clarified with your school.
If the last day of a holiday falls on a public holiday, classes resume on the next working day. In this academic year, 9 November, 10 January, and 27 March are not holidays.
Under the resolution, the school week consists of six days. In grades 1–4, it may be a five-day week by decision of the pedagogical council, whilst in presidential, creativity, and specialised schools and boarding schools it is always a five-day week. According to the calendar, the last day of classes before the winter holidays is Saturday, 26 December, with a six-day working week and Friday, 25 December, with a five-day working week. In 2025, the start of winter holidays was announced separately for grades 1–4, so for this year it is worth waiting for an announcement.
Holidays for first-graders
Pupils of grade 1 are entitled to an additional week of holidays in February (paragraph 26). The resolution does not specify exact dates. According to the explanation of the ministry’s press secretary of 2024, the period is determined by the school’s pedagogical council. We have not found dates for February 2027; you need to check them with your school. For example: in 2026, the Surkhandarya Regional Department recommended 9–14 February; this was only a recommendation (according to Ta’lim xabarlari).
The academic year for first-graders is shorter: 33 weeks instead of 34, except in presidential and sports schools (paragraph 25).
Academic year and terms
Under paragraph 24 of the resolution, the academic year runs from 2 September to 25 May of the following year and is divided into four terms. 25 May 2027 is Tuesday. In 2026, the “Last Bell” was set for 25 May by a ministerial letter (according to Ta’lim xabarlari); there is no letter for 2027 yet.
The resolution contains no term boundaries. The only calendar found for this year is on the InfoEdu.uz website, and it does not cite any document. According to InfoEdu.uz:
- Term I — 2 September – 3 November;
- Term II — 10 November – 27 December;
- Term III — 11 January – 20 March;
- Term IV — 28 March – 25 May.
Of these dates, only the start of term II, 10 November, has been confirmed. 27 December and 28 March are Sundays, so there will be no classes on these days. InfoEdu.uz indicates the start of the summer holidays as 25 May. Under the resolution, in grades without stage tests they begin on the day following the end of the academic year: if 25 May is the last day of classes, this is 26 May.
What can shift the dates
There are no classes on days designated as public holidays by labour law (paragraph 25). Holiday dates have previously been shifted:
- Spring 2026. Ramadan Hayit (Eid al-Fitr) fell on Friday, 20 March, a day before the start of the holidays. The holidays ran from 20 to 28 March, term IV began on 30 March, and classes for 20 and 28 March were redistributed across term IV.
- January 2023. Winter holidays were extended until 17 January due to a forecast of anomalous cold weather (according to Anhor.uz).
What is known about the holidays of 2027:
- Ramadan (Ruza) Hayit. Expected on Tuesday, 9 March; timeanddate.com places it on 10 March. For more details, see the reference on Hayits of 2027. In both cases, this is 11–12 days before the spring holidays, so an overlap like the one in 2026 is not expected. There will be no classes on Monday, 8 March, or on the day of Hayit.
- Navruz. 21 March 2027 is Sunday and the first day of the holidays. Under Article 208 of the Labour Code, the day off moves to Monday, 22 March, but these are also holiday days.
- Kurban Hayit (Eid al-Adha). Expected on Sunday, 16 May; timeanddate.com places it on 17 May. In both cases, Monday, 17 May, is a day off, and there will be no classes. This does not affect the holidays.
The dates of the Hayits are provisional. A decree on additional days off and transfers for 2027 has not yet been issued; it usually appears in December and may alter this calculation. All public holidays are listed in the work calendar for 2027.
