Hayit 2027 in Uzbekistan: dates of Ruza (Ramadan) Hayit and Kurban Hayit, days off

Checked by the editors on 27 October 2026. The figures were checked against the documents in the list of sources below. Translated from the Russian original — read it.

Both Hayits in Uzbekistan are public holidays. However, their dates change every year: they follow the lunar calendar. Below are the expected dates for 2027, how a date becomes official, and what this means for days off.

When are the Hayits in 2027

Event Expected date Hijri date
Start of Ramadan Monday, 8 February 1 Ramadan 1448 AH
Ramadan Hayit (Eid al-Fitr) Tuesday, 9 March 1 Shawwal 1448 AH
Kurban Hayit (Eid al-Adha) Sunday, 16 May 10 Dhu al-Hijjah 1448 AH

These dates are tentative. This is how they are given by two calendars calculated in advance: Saudi Arabia’s official Umm al-Qura calendar and the calendar of Turkey’s Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet). Here they coincide.

The reference website timeanddate.com currently places both Hayits a day later: Ramadan Hayit on Wednesday, 10 March, and Kurban Hayit on Monday, 17 May. The one-day discrepancy is due to the calculation rule. The new moon will occur on 8 March at 14:29 and on 6 May at 15:58 Tashkent time. Umm al-Qura begins the month on the following day if the new moon has already occurred by sunset in Mecca and the Moon sets after the Sun. Calendars using different rules may begin the month a day later.

In 2023–2026, the official dates of both Hayits in Uzbekistan coincided with the Umm al-Qura and Diyanet calendars. With the start of Ramadan, this is not always the case: in 2026, the fast in Uzbekistan began on 19 February, while according to Umm al-Qura it began on 18 February.

How a date becomes official

  1. The Muslim Board of Uzbekistan determines the first day of the holiday.
  2. The President signs a resolution “On the celebration of the holy Ramadan Hayit” or “…Kurban Hayit”. It takes note of the information from the Muslim Board and declares the day a holiday. Local authorities and government agencies are tasked with festive events and trips to pilgrimage sites.
  3. If the holiday falls on a day off, the resolution notes that the day off is moved. Sometimes it also adds days off: in 2023, Monday 24 April after Ramadan Hayit; in 2025, Saturday 7 June for a six-day working week after Kurban Hayit.

The resolution is issued shortly before the holiday: 1–4 days prior for Ramadan Hayit, and 5–9 days prior for Kurban Hayit.

Days off

Article 208 of the Labour Code designates the first day of “Ruza Hayit” (the Code’s name for Ramadan Hayit) and the first day of Kurban Hayit as public holidays. This is a day off for everyone, except for work that cannot be suspended: continuous manufacturing operations, daily services to the public, and rotational shift work.

If a holiday coincides with a day off, the day off is moved to the working day following the holiday. Sunday is a general day off under both a five-day and a six-day working week (Article 207), so a day off moved from a Sunday applies to everyone. On the eve of the holiday, the working day is shorter by at least one hour (Article 187).

Additional days off and other transfers are set by presidential decree. Such decrees have been signed in December for the whole of the following year: UP-270 of 23 December 2022, UP-213 of 22 December 2023, UP-257 of 24 December 2025. Under UP-257, 28 and 29 May were added to Kurban Hayit on 27 May 2026, as well as 30 May for a six-day working week. When the date of Hayit becomes known, the decree may be amended: in 2023, this was done by presidential decree No. UP-100 of 19 June. There is no decree for 2027 yet.

What this means for 2027:

All holidays and transfers are in the work calendar for 2027.

Ramadan 2027 and the taqvim

According to the Umm al-Qura and Diyanet calendars, 1 Ramadan 1448 AH is Monday, 8 February 2027. The official start date of the fast is announced by the Muslim Board, and the President takes note of it in a separate resolution. In 2026, presidential resolution No. PP-65 was issued on 16 February, three days before the start of the fast.

The taqvim — the timetable of suhoor and iftar for Tashkent and the regions — is published by the Muslim Board before Ramadan. In 2026, its press service posted the taqvim on 16 February and suggested checking regional times in the Telegram bot @fatvouz_taqvim_bot. Check the times for 2027 in the taqvim once it is published.
