The Tashkent khokimiyat has prepared infrastructure development proposals for 2027 that envision creating 12,390 places in schools and 2,040 places in kindergartens.

The projects are planned to be included in the Social and Industrial Infrastructure Development Programme of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2027. According to the capital's administration, the proposals were drafted by a working group led by Deputy Khokim of the city Durdona Rahimova following an analysis of the capacity utilization of educational institutions across the districts.

In school education, it is proposed to construct two new schools with a capacity of 1,980 students each. Another 8,430 places are slated to be created by reconstructing and building additional blocks at nine existing schools in Mirzo-Ulugbek, Yashnabad, Sergeli, Yunusabad, Shaykhantakhur, Uchtepa, Almazar and Yangikhayot districts. Major overhauls are also planned for schools No. 178 and No. 90 in Chilanzar district and school No. 172 in Yakkasaray district.

In the preschool sector, plans call for extensions and the reconstruction of four institutions for 930 places in Shaykhantakhur, Yashnabad and Almazar districts, alongside major overhauls of four kindergartens in Chilanzar and Mirzo-Ulugbek districts.

Earlier, Tashkent Khokim Shavkat Umurzakov told Gazeta.uz in an interview that the city intends to overcome the shortage by building higher-capacity facilities, generating at least 15,000 student places each year. According to him, about $100 million was earmarked in early 2026 for the development of schools, kindergartens, and sports facilities.

What it means

The khokimiyat's proposals are submitted for inclusion in the 2027 state programme, and funding as well as the execution of construction works depend on their approval.
