New border crossing point "Keskaner" to open on Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan border

Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan have agreed to open a new border crossing point "Keskaner", which will be twice as large as the "Dustlik" point. This was announced by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on September 24 at a meeting in Andijan.

According to the head of state, within three months, it is instructed to prepare a project for the facility and start its construction. According to the authorities' calculations, the new point's throughput will be two to three times higher than the current one, and cargo will pass through the border about a week faster.

At the meeting, it was also reported that in 2027, it is planned to start practical work on the construction of a toll road from Tashkent to Andijan. In addition, it is planned to launch the design of another toll road with a length of 78 kilometers along the Khanabad - Andijan route.

According to the president's estimate, after the launch of the China - Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan railway, the cargo flow through the region will increase tenfold, to 15 million tons per year. In this regard, by the end of the year, it is instructed to start implementing a logistics complex project worth $600 million on an area of 300 hectares in the Kurgantepinsky district and the city of Khanabad.
