In the historic center of Bukhara, from 1 October, the movement of scooters and rickshaws will be restricted

From 1 October 2026, restrictions on the movement of electric scooters, mopeds, rickshaws, as well as the movement on horses and camels will be introduced in the historic part of Bukhara. The corresponding decision was signed by the khokim of Bukhara, Kurbon Tursunov, on 21 September.

The restrictions will affect the area from the Ark fortress through the Po-i-Kalon ensemble and Hakikat street to the Lyab-i-Hauz ensemble. The ban and restrictions will apply to electric scooters, electric scooters, mopeds, rickshaws, karts, four-wheeled bicycles and other means of transportation, as well as horse and camel riding.

According to the city administration, the decision was made due to a sharp increase in the number of vehicles not intended for passenger transportation or not meeting the requirements of the legislation. The chaotic traffic created threats to the safety and health of tourists and pedestrians, and in some cases led to injuries.

It has been instructed to install information signs and stands at the entrances and exits from the historic zone. The internal affairs bodies, tourist security units, tax inspection and cultural heritage management will monitor compliance with the order and conduct explanatory work. Liability is provided for illegal passenger transportation, and entrepreneurs will be offered to relocate the rental to other zones - in particular, to the "Yangi Uzbekiston" ("New Uzbekistan") and "Bokiy Bukhoro" ("Eternal Bukhara") parks.
