YouTube is testing an interface on some users where the 'Dislike' button under regular videos is moved to a menu with three dots.

As reported by Kod.ru with reference to Android Authority, users on X and Reddit have stated that a new version has appeared for some viewers about two weeks ago. The 'Like' mark is still under the video, but to put a dislike, you now need to open an additional menu where other actions are collected, including a complaint. The 9to5Google portal, which is referenced by Habr, writes that some users do not have a dislike button at all.

For most viewers, the interface has not changed yet, and it is unknown how widely the test is being conducted. YouTube has not officially announced the innovation, and Google has not commented on the changes.

Back in June, Google announced plans to remove dislikes from Shorts, replacing them with another form of feedback. At the time, the company clarified: 'Dislikes will still be counted as usual for long videos and broadcasts.' The platform hid the counter of negative ratings from viewers back in 2021, explaining this as protection for authors from harassment; the authors themselves have seen the number of dislikes so far.

What it means

The change is being tested on some users, with most interfaces remaining the same. As noted by Android Authority, dislikes on regular videos are still counted, but the button is now harder to reach.
