Owners of Samsung Galaxy S24 series smartphones have started receiving the One UI 9 interface update based on Android 17 outside of South Korea, according to Kursiv citing insider Tarun Vats.

The firmware has already begun to be distributed among Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra users in Indonesia and Thailand. Earlier, the stable build of the shell became available on these 2024 flagships in South Korea, and on the Galaxy S26 it debuted in September.

The update features functions presented on fresher devices. The My FanCam tool allows you to automatically keep the selected person in the center of the frame after recording a video. The Now Nudge prompt analyzes the conversation and suggests saving an address or opening information without switching to another application, and Call Brief forms a brief summary of the completed phone call. In the Now Brief summary, manual adjustment of the displayed cards has appeared.

In addition, the developers have redesigned the quick settings panel, allowing you to change the size of the volume, brightness, and player regulators, as well as rearrange buttons. Changes have affected multitasking and Samsung DeX mode when connected to an external monitor.

What it means

To check the availability of One UI 9, you can go to the "Settings" → "Software update" → "Download and install" menu. Since the update is being sent out in stages, the timing of receiving the firmware for specific devices varies.
