Sony presented a black version of PlayStation 5 for the Japanese market

The company Sony officially announced the game console PlayStation 5 Digital Edition in black color Midnight Black exclusively for the Japanese market. Sales of the new version of the console will start on November 19, 2026, at a price of 55,000 yen (about 347-350 dollars). To use it, you will need a PlayStation Network account of the Japanese region, and the interface only supports Japanese. Technically, the model does not differ from the standard PS5 Digital Edition and is equipped with an SSD drive with a volume of 825 Gb.

At the same time as the console, on November 19, an external drive of the corresponding color Midnight Black, costing 11,980 yen (about 75-76 dollars), will go on sale, which allows the use of physical media on a digital version.

In addition, in a statement on the Japanese PlayStation website, the company confirmed its intention to abandon disks: new games of the platform that will be released from January 2028 are planned to be released exclusively in digital format, while previously released disk versions will continue to work.
