Google to leave free users of Gemini with only Flash-Lite model

According to the company's official data, the free version of the service will remove more powerful Flash and Pro models. Access to the Flash class will be retained by subscribers to Google AI Plus plans, and Pro models will be available only at the AI Pro and AI Ultra levels. At the same time, owners of older subscriptions will retain the ability to work with all three classes of models.

Simultaneously, Google will expand the functionality of the AI Pro tariff, adding an advanced parallel reasoning mode Deep Think to it, which was previously offered only in AI Ultra. In addition, in October, three levels of computational load - low, medium and high - will be introduced for models. Increasing the load will allow the system to allocate more resources to the response, but will accelerate the depletion of the user's limits.

The new rules affect consumer applications Gemini for personal accounts and do not automatically apply to Gemini API and AI Studio platforms. In addition, the company will adjust access to third-party models in the Antigravity development environment: versions Claude Sonnet 5.5 and Claude Opus 5.5 will be available only on AI Pro tariffs with full payment and AI Ultra, and from November 2, models Claude Sonnet 4.6, Claude Opus 4.6 and GPT-OSS-120B will be removed from Antigravity.
