Users of the Claude AI service from Hong Kong and Russia have faced mass account blocks when using VPN. This was reported by industry publications citing customer complaints.

The security service of Anthropic indicates in notifications that an internal check detected "suspicious signals" and a violation of the platform's rules. After that, the service revokes access to the account. Users are given the opportunity to dispute the restriction, however, according to reports on social media, the company often leaves the block in force, citing a "final decision".

Attention to the blocks was drawn by messages on Reddit and X platforms, which was also written about by the South China Morning Post publication. Users who have been working with Claude via VPN for months report about the suspension of their accounts. Among those who faced restrictions was Yandex employee Roman Maresov, who reported returning to the Codex platform.

Hong Kong and Russia are not included in the official list of supported regions by Anthropic. According to the developer's rules, violating the territorial policy can result in a warning or complete termination of access. However, the company has not yet publicly announced any tightening of requirements for using VPN.
