In the US, a lawsuit was filed against OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic due to the slowing down of AI

A lawsuit has been filed in the US against OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic over the slowing down of AI. Four subscribers to paid AI services have filed a collective lawsuit against Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, and SpaceXAI, accusing them of violating US antitrust laws.

The lawsuit was filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of California on behalf of all users of paid subscriptions to ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, and Gemini in the US, according to the Associated Press.

According to the plaintiffs, the developers have colluded to slow down the development of their systems, which reduces the value of paid tariffs. The claims are related to the publication of an essay by Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei on September 12, which called for slowing down the pace of development for safety reasons. On the same day, the initiative was supported by the leaders of OpenAI, SpaceXAI, and Google DeepMind.

The plaintiffs note that they are not against individual companies' decisions to reduce development rates or government agencies' participation in regulation, but consider collective coordination without official permission from the authorities to be illegal.
