A bright trail in the evening sky of Tashkent on September 19 was not a meteor or a bolide, but resembles a fragment of a space rocket. This was reported by the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan with reference to the preliminary analysis of the Institute of Astronomy.

According to the senior researcher of the institute, Kamoliddin Ergashev, the most likely version of the phenomenon is the spent stage of the Chinese Long March-2D (Chang Zheng-2D) launch vehicle. The rocket was launched from the Taiyuan cosmodrome and put four PIESAT-2 series satellites into orbit.

Preliminary orbital calculations showed a coincidence in the launch time, flight trajectory, as well as the time and direction of the object observed over the capital of Uzbekistan. The Mirzo Ulugbek Astronomical Institute clarified that the trail appeared due to the operation of engines at high altitude.

At the same time, the Academy of Sciences emphasized that it is not yet possible to unequivocally confirm the affiliation of the object to a specific rocket. There is currently insufficient information in international orbital catalogs about recently launched vehicles for independent identification.
