Saidjamshid Jafarov wins European Boxing Championship in Sofia

Boxer from Bukhara region Saidjamshid Jafarov, performing for the national team of Azerbaijan, won the gold medal at the 2026 European Championship under the auspices of World Boxing in Sofia. In the weight category up to 75 kilograms, the athlete won in the final match against the representative of Russia Ismail Mutsolgov with a score of 5:0. On the way to the final, Jafarov won against German Mukhsim Abdullay (5:0), in the quarterfinals he passed the Swedish boxer Kevin Scott (5:0), and in the semifinals he defeated the Englishman Callum Mcin with a score of 4:1. Earlier, as part of the Uzbekistan team, the pupil of the Bukhara boxing school won the silver award of the 2023 World Championship, the bronze medal of the world championship and twice became the champion of Asia.
