Timur Turlov Announces Candidacy for FIDE President

The head of the Kazakhstan Chess Federation and entrepreneur Timur Turlov announced his candidacy for the post of president of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) during the chess Olympiad in Samarkand. According to him, the elections of the organization's leadership with the participation of representatives of national federations will take place in a few days in Samarkand.

Turlov stated that he intends to rely on the trust of national federations and support their long-term financing. He also noted the successes of chess players from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, recalling the upcoming match for the world chess crown between the current champion Gukesh from India and Zhavokhir Sindarov from Uzbekistan.
