By the end of 2026, it is planned to put into operation 20 thousand apartments in New Tashkent, which will be able to accommodate at least 70 thousand people.

The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has announced plans to complete 20 thousand apartments in New Tashkent by the end of 2026, which will be able to accommodate at least 70 thousand people. The Head of State emphasized the need for simultaneous creation of infrastructure, including schools, medical facilities, recreational facilities, trade and sports facilities. The task has also been set to calculate the need for hotels, public catering establishments, and leisure facilities in the new city, in order to present this information to businesses.

A stadium with a capacity of 55 thousand seats, built to FIFA standards, is being constructed in the city. The stadium is scheduled to host matches of the U-20 Football World Cup next year. At the same time, the transfer of administrative structures is ongoing: the Ministries of Construction, Transport, and Energy have already been relocated to buildings of lightweight construction, and nine more buildings are being built to accommodate 2.6 thousand employees of ministries and departments.

The Prime Minister has been instructed to begin the relocation of the remaining ministries and government agencies to New Tashkent. The state-owned buildings being vacated in Tashkent are planned to be sold, subject to the condition of carrying out current repairs and a ban on demolition or reconstruction.

What it means

If the vacated ministry buildings in Tashkent are sold, new owners will be prohibited from demolishing or rebuilding them: they will only be allowed to carry out current repairs while preserving the previous appearance.
