The Soviet psychotherapist Anatoly Kashpirovsky has passed away at the age of 87.

The Soviet psychotherapist Anatoly Kashpirovsky has passed away at the age of 87. This was reported by TV presenter Andrey Malakhov, and the fact was confirmed by Kashpirovsky's director Sergey Rudiych.

According to Sergey Rudiych, the death occurred in the morning of October 3. As the director told the TASS agency, Kashpirovsky's blood pressure dropped sharply, he was taken to the hospital by ambulance, where he had a heart stop (according to the Telegram channel SHOT, the preliminary cause was acute heart failure at home around 06:40). Relatives and friends linked his departure from life to natural age-related reasons.

Kashpirovsky was born on August 11, 1939, in Ukraine. He graduated from the Vinnytsia Medical Institute, worked as a doctor in a psychiatric hospital in Vinnytsia for more than 20 years, and was also a psychotherapist for the USSR weightlifting team. In 1993, he was elected a deputy to the State Duma of the first convocation.

The psychotherapist gained widespread recognition in the late 1980s due to his TV sessions on Central Television, during which he claimed to have a remote impact on the health of viewers. In the fall of 1989, he also conducted sessions in Tashkent at the Jubilee Sports Palace. Kashpirovsky's methods have been repeatedly criticized by medical specialists and scientists, and in 2024, representatives of the Russian Academy of Sciences characterized them as pseudoscience.
