V Samarkand Forum on Human Rights to be held in Tashkent and Samarkand on September 28-29

The theme of the event is dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the International Covenants on Human Rights and the 40th anniversary of the Declaration on the Right to Development. The organizers expect the participation of experts, scholars, representatives of international organizations, government agencies, national human rights institutions and civil society from different countries.

The holding of the forum is timed to coincide with the anniversaries of UN documents. The UN General Assembly adopted the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights on December 16, 1966. The Declaration on the Right to Development enshrined the right of individuals and peoples to participate in development and enjoy its results.

The event is being held as part of the presidential decree of February 16, 2026, on the state program for the implementation of the Strategy "Uzbekistan - 2030" in the "Year of Development of Mahalla and the Whole Society". Following the meetings, it is planned to form proposals and recommendations for international cooperation in the field of human rights.
