In Italy, experts discussed the rapprochement of Central Asian countries

A meeting of delegations from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan was held in the Italian town of Cadenabbia, dedicated to regional security and cooperation in Central Asia. This was reported by the news agencies UzA and UzDaily.

The event "Central Asia in the context of global shifts: own strategies, regional security and the formation of new cooperation" was organized by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. It was attended by representatives of parliaments, foreign policy departments, analytical centers and the media community of the three countries.

During the meeting, the Uzbek delegation presented the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to develop the Fergana Forum of Peace as a permanent international dialogue platform. According to Akramjon Nematov, First Deputy Director of the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (ISMI), the next meeting of the forum is scheduled for the end of September in the Tajik city of Khujand. The first meeting took place on October 15-16, 2025, in Fergana, with the participation of over 300 people.

In addition, leading researcher at ISMI Shahlo Khamrahojayeva presented the project of the Concept for the formation and strengthening of regional identity in Central Asia. The document is being developed jointly with specialists from all five countries of the region and is aimed at strengthening humanitarian, cultural and social ties while respecting the national sovereignty of each country.
