Russia restricts export of cash rubles to Uzbekistan to 1 million rubles

The President of Russia has signed a decree prohibiting citizens from exporting more than 1 million rubles in cash to Uzbekistan and a number of other countries. The restriction applies to trips to the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan), as well as to Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Legal entities and individual entrepreneurs are completely prohibited from exporting cash rubles to these states, regardless of the amount. Individuals are entitled to export more than 1 million rubles through international airports approved by the government if they provide bank statements about withdrawing funds from their account. Exceptions also apply to international transportation and ensuring the operation of diplomatic and consular missions. In case of violation, individuals will have the amount exceeding the established limit of 1 million rubles seized. The entire volume of transported cash is subject to seizure from legal entities and individual entrepreneurs. The Government of the Russian Federation and the Bank of Russia have been instructed to develop a procedure for accounting for the movement of currency within three months.
