Tashkent Instructed to Create Microforests in Courtyards, Near Schools and Kindergartens

Microforests are allocated on plots with an area of 200 to 1000 square meters. Planting on them should be dense and multi-tiered: at least two seedlings of trees and shrubs per square meter. If it is not possible to allocate land or it is covered with asphalt or concrete, the document provides for small community gardens in large containers. Containers will be provided by district hokimiyats and sponsors, seedlings will be supplied by the Forestry Agency, and planting and care will be organized by mahallas together with residents.

Plots for green gardens, according to the decision, can only be used for their intended purpose. They cannot be transferred to the ownership of citizens and organizations, built up, have structures placed on them, or be closed to residents. From January 1, 2027, a "Yashil Lot" system is planned, under which citizens and companies will be allocated land for green gardens on a contractual basis.

District "green programs" must be prepared by November 1, 2026, and from 2027 - annually by March 1. They will be approved by district Kengashes of People's Deputies. Before the start of the planting season, city services must prepare plots and set up irrigation systems. By January 2028, it is planned to introduce a "Tree Balance" module on the "Yashil Makon" platform to account for trees with geolocation, species, age, and condition.
