The Committee for Development of Competition and Protection of Consumer Rights has imposed financial penalties on 22 gas filling stations in Nukus that simultaneously raised the price of compressed gas, the agency reported.

An inspection was carried out after an application from one of the citizens: the committee's specialists examined the prices at 22 gas filling stations in Nukus. It was found that the price of a cubic meter of compressed gas at these stations increased simultaneously, on average by 1050 soums above the existing price.

A special commission of the committee in Karakalpakstan initiated cases against the stations on signs of violation of Article 19 of the Law "On Competition", which concerns anti-competitive concerted actions. As a result of the consideration, it was decided to apply financial penalties, the amount of which is not specified in the message. In addition, the stations received mandatory prescriptions to eliminate the violations and not to allow similar actions in the future.

Nine business entities disagreed with the commission's decision and challenged it in court. The court recognized the committee's decisions as lawful, the agency reported.
