The Ministry of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan has put up for discussion a draft government resolution to increase the retail price of liquefied gas for the population by 2.5 times.

According to the document, the tariff for household liquefied gas, including VAT, is proposed to be increased from 2000 to 5000 soum per kilogram. The maximum cost of the service for its delivery to residents is planned to be limited to 1300 soum per kilogram. The delivery will be handled by entrepreneurs and the subsidiary company of Hududgazta'minot - LPG-Trade.

At the same time, it is proposed to introduce compensation for expenses for low-income citizens until January 1, 2030. The amount of the payment will be 3000 soum for each kilogram, but not more than 20 kilograms per month (up to 60 thousand soum). The benefit is provided for families from the Social Register, families with a per capita income of no more than two minimum consumer expenditures (1.43 million soum), as well as families with orphaned children.

An application for a subsidy can be submitted through public service centers, Inson centers, social workers of the mahalla, the my.gov.uz portal or the Social Card service. The money will start being transferred to social cards after verifying the fact of purchase through the E-gaz Billing system. According to the authorities' calculations, the measure will cover about 220 thousand subscribers from the Social Register, which will require 158 billion soum.

In the materials for the project, the authors explain the revision of the tariff due to the unprofitability of the previous price, the deficit of supplies and the change in the structure of the balance: own fuel production is decreasing, and the volumes of more expensive imports are growing.

What it means

In the event of the adoption of the resolution, the price of a kilogram of liquefied gas for citizens will increase by 3000 soum, and delivery will cost a maximum of 1300 soum per kilogram. Needy categories of consumers will be able to return up to 60 thousand soum per month through social cards.
