Saida Mirziyoyeva meets with WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala

The head of the Administration of the President of Uzbekistan, Saida Mirziyoyeva, met with the Director-General of the World Trade Organization, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. The parties discussed the progress of the republic's accession to the WTO.

During the dialogue, the process of Uzbekistan's accession to the organization and the final tasks facing the country were discussed. Saida Mirziyoyeva expressed her gratitude to the head of the WTO for continuous expert support and noted that a large part of the way has already been passed, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the pace to complete the process.

According to official data published by several agencies, the negotiation process for the republic's accession to the WTO has been intensified since 2023. By July 2026, 13 meetings of the working group on Uzbekistan's accession to the organization have been held.

To date, negotiations on market opening have been launched with 35 WTO member states, of which they have already been completed with 33 countries. In addition, about 200 acts of national legislation have been brought into line with the rules and principles of the organization.
