In Uzbekistan, the power of power plants is planned to be increased to 46.1 GW by 2030

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan has been briefed on plans to develop the fuel and energy sector, according to which the total generation capacity should reach 46.1 GW by 2030. This was reported by the presidential press service.

According to the presented plan, by 2030, electricity production in the country should reach about 129 billion kWh per year, and by 2035, the generating capacity is planned to be increased to 57.2 GW with an annual generation volume of 154.7 billion kWh. Currently, the total capacity of solar and wind power plants has exceeded 6.3 GW, and the number of hydroelectric power plants has exceeded 100 with a total capacity of about 2.5 GW. It is forecasted that only in the industry, electricity consumption will increase from 38 to 53.5 billion kWh by 2030.

To integrate new capacities by 2030, it is planned to build almost 5 thousand kilometers of new power transmission lines, nine substations with a voltage of 220 kV and seven substations with a voltage of 500 kV, part of which is scheduled to be introduced in 2027-2029. Also, 26 energy storage system projects with a total capacity of 4.2 GW have been formed in the industry, 17 of which are at the implementation stage. In Karakalpakstan, it is proposed to connect wind farms to data centers with a capacity of 1 GW, building a substation and a 220 kV power line.

In addition, a new scheme for working with investments has been presented. Projects will be formed based on demand forecasts with pre-allocated land plots and connection points to the networks, and investors will be determined through open competitive selection. The Ministry of Economy and Finance will deal with demand forecasting, the Ministry of Energy - strategic planning and technical policy, and the Agency for the Development and Regulation of the Energy Market - market relations and tariffs.
