Shukhrat Abbasov posthumously receives Chaplin Awards in Tashkent

Abbasov was posthumously awarded for his contribution to the development of cinematography. The award was accepted by his son, Eljon Abbasov. According to him, such recognition is significant for both the family and Uzbek cinema at the international level.

The award was organized jointly with The Hollywood Reporter with the support of the Ministry of Culture. The 'Golden Cane' award was given to Russian actress Leonela Manturova for her strong female roles in historical films. It was presented personally by Charlie Chaplin's granddaughter, Kiara Chaplin. The Hollywood Reporter also awarded Boris Khanchalyan the status of Featured Producer. In addition, the publication noted Russian media manager Alina Zinnatullina, one of the general producers of the film 'Homeland of Champions: Islam Makhachev', and she presented the film on stage.

The program opened with a press conference attended by Minister of Culture Ozodbek Nazarbekov, First Deputy Minister and Director of the Agency for Cinematography Jahangir Ahmedov, and Kiara Chaplin. According to UzA, the minister spoke about the importance of international events for cultural ties and how the traditions of the Great Silk Road are reflected in modern creative cooperation. Kiara Chaplin noted that her grandfather's works emphasized humanism, sincerity, and kindness.

The evening ended with a screening of the film Haqqimbor ('I Have the Right') about children who faced violence. The film's premiere in Uzbekistan took place in 2025.
