The Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) discussed the possibility of financing projects in the transport sector, the ministry's press service reported.

The Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan, Ilhom Makhkamov, held negotiations with a delegation headed by the Senior Managing Director and Member of the Board of Directors of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), Hiroki Sekine, on October 7. The bank's representative reported on plans to financially participate in 14 projects in the republic over the next three years.

The parties paid special attention to two initiatives: the construction of a new international airport in Tashkent and the supply of air traffic management systems for the "Uzaeronavigatsiya" center. The participants considered the current state of these projects and the issue of attracting funds from the Japanese bank. However, the department did not provide information on the exact amount of financing or the signing of loan documents.

As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to accelerate the implementation of joint initiatives and continue cooperation. A day later, on October 8, Hiroki Sekine also met with the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Finance, Jamshid Kuchkarov - the negotiations discussed infrastructure projects of public-private partnerships in energy and healthcare.
