iPhone Duo's Inner Screen Fails JerryRigEverything's Bend Test

At the first bend, the body and titanium frame survived, but a permanent green stripe appeared on the flexible panel from the center to the edge of the frame. Repeated bending added new lines, and the screen stopped responding to touch. Nelson did not specify the exact cause of the breakdown. He suggested that the sand left in the hinge after the previous test or the degree to which the mechanism allows the body to bend backward could have been the reason.

Prior to this, the blogger poured sand and dirt into the smartphone. Apple claims IP68 protection for the iPhone Duo, but after particles got into the hinge, the device stopped closing completely. According to Nelson's observations, the debris prevented the magnets from holding the halves together.

The outer screen with Ceramic Shield 2 coating received barely noticeable marks at the seventh level of the Mohs scale, and more pronounced ones at the eighth. The inner display was scratched at the second level, although the matte nano-texture masks the damage when the screen is on. Under flame, the inner panel began to melt in about 10 seconds, while the outer one lasted more than 20. Replacing the top layer of the inner screen, as noted in the video, costs $50, and repairing the display itself costs $1000.

Nelson also noted that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 showed better results in similar tests. Additionally, he criticized Apple's proprietary cases: the $130 model covers the hinge but leaves the side edges open, while the $80 model, on the other hand, protects the edges but not the folding mechanism. The price of the iPhone Duo starts at $1999.
