Four Russian researchers affiliated with Yandex have made it to the top 1% of the most influential scientists in the world in the field of artificial intelligence and image processing for 2025.

The list is based on the scientometric database of citation indicators on the Elsevier publishing platform (Scopus), authored by John Ioannidis from Stanford University. The annual ranking includes the head of Yandex Research laboratory Artem Babenko, the leading researcher of the same laboratory Lyudmila Prokhorenkova, the head of the Artificial Intelligence Center at Skoltech Evgeny Burnaev, and the scientific director of the joint program of St. Petersburg State University and Yandex Sergey Nikolenko.

A separate ranking, taking into account the citability of works throughout the scientific career, included a teacher of the joint program of Yandex and HSE Sergey Kuznetsov - he is included in the top 1% of researchers in machine learning and data analysis. In addition, the meteorologist of the Yandex Weather service Georgy Ayzel got into the number of 2% of leading scientists in the field of engineering geosciences and environmental research for works on precipitation forecasting and climate change using machine learning.

The calculation methodology covers 174 specialties and is based on a number of citation metrics, including the Hirsch index, the number of co-authors, and the position of the scientist in the author list of the publication.
