French company Ledger has presented a hybrid of a hardware cryptocurrency wallet and a smartphone called Atom.

The device externally resembles a regular Android-based smartphone, however, its eSIM module is designed exclusively for data transfer: regular calls and SMS are not supported. The gadget is equipped with a 6.77-inch OLED screen with a frequency of 60 Hz, a Qualcomm Dragonwing chip, a single main camera, and a 4000 mAh battery. Also, a hardware switch is installed on the case for physically disconnecting the power of the microphone and camera.

The architecture is based on the work of two operating systems: open Android for standard applications and the proprietary Ledger OS based on an isolated secure chip for financial transactions. In addition, support for managing AI agents via OpenClaw has been implemented, for which physical confirmation of the owner is required. The device is also equipped with sensors for detecting body opening, display removal, and rear cover removal.

Deliveries of the Ledger Atom are scheduled for summer 2027. Pre-orders for the Founder's Edition version are open at a price of $849 (later the base cost will be from $899 to $900). The manufacturer promises to support the device with Android updates for five years and supply spare parts for at least seven years.

What it means
