Enthusiasts have launched an unofficial browser port of Grand Theft Auto V, which runs locally without using cloud streaming. The playgta5.com project was implemented based on the WebAssembly technology under the wasm64 architecture. The debug version of the original RAGE engine from the previously leaked source code for PC and PlayStation 4 was used as the basis. To work with graphics, the authors created a special layer that transmits DirectX 11 calls to the browser standard WebGPU. Sound was played through AudioWorklet, and input and saves were implemented in JavaScript.

The build transferred the Euphoria physical model, Scaleform interfaces, and audio system, removing only Bink Video format videos. The gameplay supported two formats: full storyline passage and sandbox mode for exploring Los Santos. To launch, it required from 3 to 16 GB of RAM and support for pthreads multithreading.

A few hours after the publication, the project site stopped working. At first, a thank you for the game was displayed on the page, and then a redirect to a third-party resource appeared. Some users are trying to launch the web port through archived copies in the Wayback Machine.
