The company Nvidia increased the cost of the TV-set-top box Shield TV Pro from 199 to almost 300 dollars and stopped the production of the basic version of the device. A representative of the company reported this to the publication Ars Technica.

The new price of Shield TV Pro is $299.99 (in some stores it is indicated as $300) and came into effect on October 2. The company explained the 50% price increase by the significant growth of the cost of components throughout the industry, primarily memory.

At the same time, the technical characteristics of the set-top box, released in October 2019, remained unchanged: it is still equipped with a Tegra X1 (Tegra X1+) processor, 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB of built-in memory, and also supports video output in 4K HDR format. At the same time as the price increase, Nvidia removed the standard Shield TV model, which was produced in the form of a cylinder, from production. The manufacturer promised to continue software support for the device.

What it means

From October 2, 2026, the Shield TV Pro set-top box officially costs $299.99 instead of the previous $199, and the basic Shield TV model has been discontinued.
