Bloomberg: Apple Preparing Smart Display for Home with Siri AI

According to journalist Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, Apple may introduce a smart home display in October 2026. The company has not officially announced the device yet.

By Gurman's information, the corporation is testing two modifications of the gadget under the codenames J490 and J491. The first model is designed for desktop placement with a special stand, the second - for wall mounting with magnetic fastening. Both devices are equipped with a compact square screen of about 7 inches, which is smaller than the Amazon Echo Show. Testing of the novelty is already underway in the homes of Apple employees, and the approximate timing of the possible launch varies from October 2026 to the beginning of 2027.

The device operates on the basis of a specialized operating system, composed of elements of iOS, tvOS, and watchOS, supporting widgets and dial options. The built-in camera is designed for video calls and identification of residents without using Face ID depth sensors. After recognition, the gadget displays personal schedules, notes, and media content.

The key interface is the Siri AI voice assistant. With its help, file and information search is implemented on devices and in user profiles, as well as control of smart home equipment, intercom between rooms, and access to Apple services.
