How much a passport for travel abroad costs in Uzbekistan in 2026: price, processing time and documents

Checked by the editors on 22 October 2026. The figures were checked against the documents in the list of sources below. Translated from the Russian original — read it.

The passport for travel abroad of a citizen of Uzbekistan is biometric: when it is being issued, the applicant is photographed, and from age 16 fingerprints are taken as well. Therefore, almost everyone has to come to an application office: for elderly people, persons with disabilities and those who need care, the passport is processed at home on request. Online, you can submit the application, pay the duty and track when the passport is ready.

How much it costs

State duty is set in base calculation values (the Law “On State Duty”, annex, paragraph 6). From 1 September 2026, the BCV is 440,000 soums, so the amounts are as follows:

For whom and how Duty In soums
From age 16, applying in person 1 BCV 440,000
From age 16, application via my.gov.uz 0.9 BCV 396,000
For a child under 16, applying in person 0.8 BCV 352,000
For a child under 16, application via my.gov.uz 0.72 BCV 316,800

When applying independently via the portal, the duty for any public service is 90% of the usual rate (Article 22-1 of the law): 0.8 × 0.9 = 0.72 BCV. The duty in soums changes each time the BCV is increased, usually once a year.

Who pays less or nothing

A discount is given to family members from the Social Register: 50% for families in the “poor family” category, 75% for families supported by the state. For persons with Group I and Group II disabilities, the discount is also 50%.

A passport is issued free of state duty if travel is necessary:

People fully supported by the state do not pay either. If a passport is lost or becomes unusable, a new one is issued free of state duty to victims of natural disasters, fires, residential collapses, or vehicle fires, as well as to solitary elderly people, elderly people living alone, and persons with disabilities who require outside care. From 12 September 2026, women accommodated in territorial centres for the rehabilitation and adaptation of women under the National Agency for Social Protection and their minor children were added to these categories. Documents confirming this are attached to the application form.

How to apply

  1. Via the my.gov.uz portal, the service “Submitting an application for the issuance of a passport for travel abroad”: you complete the application form, pay the duty according to the invoice sent to your personal account, and select the office to visit for photography and fingerprinting.
  2. In person at any public services centre or migration and personalisation unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, wherever you are registered: a staff member will complete the application form for you.

The invoice must be paid within a month. After submitting via the portal, you must also visit the chosen office within a month. Otherwise, the application will not be considered.

Documents

For adults: the application form and an ID card or biometric passport. Under the regulations on foreign travel, no other documents may be demanded, except for the original of the old passport for travel abroad in the case of early replacement, and a copy of the decision if the previous passport was seized as physical evidence or its validity was suspended by a court. For applicants aged 18–27 who are liable for military service, the military enlistment office is notified automatically. In the description of the service on my.gov.uz, a copy of the military service card or registration certificate is still listed for conscripts, so take it with you just in case.

For children under 16: the application is submitted by parents, guardians (custodians), or the organisation sending the child abroad. For minors, notarised parental consent for departure is required. It is not required if both parents come to the office in person, and when applying via my.gov.uz, parents confirm their consent using an electronic digital signature. The consent of one of the parents is not required if that parent has died, has been deprived of parental rights, has been declared missing or legally incapacitated, is a foreign national, has left for permanent residence abroad, or if the child is supported by a single mother. If the child travels without a parent and without a guardian, a notarised undertaking by the accompanying person is required. From age 15 to 18, a child may travel unaccompanied with parental consent.

Processing time and validity

What How long
Production up to 10 working days: for in-person application — from the date of application and payment, for application via the portal — from the date of photographing and fingerprinting

Period of validity from age 1 to 25 5 years

Readiness can be tracked on my.gov.uz or on the website of the Department of Migration and Personalisation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs; SMS notifications can be received on request. The passport is issued at the office where the application was submitted, only to the holder in person, and from age 16 — with fingerprint or facial verification. The passport of a child under 16 is collected by parents or guardians. If you choose postal delivery in the application form, the passport will be delivered to your address at your expense: in Tashkent and regional centres within 1 working day, in other locations within 2.

You can replace your passport for travel abroad at any time, regardless of how much time remains until its expiry.
