According to the footballer, he left the team after a press conference by head coach Jorge Jesus and a conversation with the president of the Portuguese Football Federation, Pedro Proença. Ronaldo added that he would reveal the details of his departure later.

Earlier, Ronaldo remained on the bench in the Nations League match against Norway on September 27, which ended 2-1 in favor of the Portuguese. According to Jesus, the 41-year-old forward was also not planned to be in the starting lineup for the match against Denmark, but the coach claimed there was no conflict with the player.

The match between Portugal and Denmark is scheduled for October 1 in Copenhagen.
