According to her, after the concrete lining, water will reach 1,400 hectares of land. A portion of residents is also expected to get running water in their homes for the first time. Mirziyoyeva raised the water issue during a trip to Kashkadarya region, where she reviewed the socio-economic development of the area. "The issue of water supply is especially acute for the region, which is why we gave this topic priority attention," she stated.

In addition, plans call for pedestrian paths and 24-hour recreation areas to be built along the canal. About 25,000 people from four neighbouring mahallas are expected to use them.

Details of the project and completion deadlines have not yet been disclosed, Kursiv Uzbekistan notes. The publication also recalls other projects in the region: in October, authorities announced the construction of 747 km of water supply and sewerage networks and 43 facilities in Kashkadarya region, which should improve access to water for 200,000 people. Furthermore, a project is being developed under which Karshi and surrounding districts will receive drinking water from the Hisorak reservoir; its cost is estimated at $217 million, and it is designed for approximately 350,000 residents.
