Veolia Energy Tashkent laboratory has started researching hot water samples after residents of the capital complained about a foreign chemical smell.

Residents' appeals are coming through social media and the support service. Messages have been recorded in the Mirabad, Yakkasaray, Shaykhantakhur, Chilanzar and Yunusabad districts (according to Gazeta.uz, also in the Mirzo-Ulugbek district). In addition, according to Gazeta.uz, over the past week, residents have been complaining about low water pressure and turbidity, and Upl.uz mentioned complaints about a kerosene smell.

Specialists from the accredited laboratory of the operator took water samples at sources and in residential buildings. Organoleptic and chemical-bacteriological tests are being conducted, the results of which the company promises to publish immediately after the work is completed.

Veolia Energy Tashkent explained that the company ensures the distribution and transportation of the resource to homes, while the water itself comes from the Tashkent Thermal Power Plant. Information about deviations has been sent to the technical services and management of the Thermal Power Plant to flush the mains and normalize the technological process. The operator did not specify the exact timeframe for restoring water quality and the cause of the smell.

What it means

Veolia Energy Tashkent promised to make public the results of laboratory tests of water samples immediately after the research is completed.
