Stats Agency Discusses Development of Gender Statistics with UN Women

The State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan held a meeting with representatives of the UN Women Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia on September 25. The meeting was attended by the Regional Director of the structure Belen Sanz Luque, her deputy Elisa Fernandez Saenz, the Acting Manager of the Country Program for Uzbekistan Seren Guven Gures, as well as the leadership and representatives of the profile departments of the statistics agency.

The parties discussed the expansion of cooperation, improvement of the quality and coverage of statistical data, as well as the application of modern approaches and international experience. Particular attention was paid to the collection and monitoring of indicators of the Sustainable Development Goals related to gender issues, and the effective use of existing information sources.

In addition, the participants considered the tasks in the field of gender statistics within the framework of the national strategy for the development of statistics for 2026-2030, issues of increasing the potential of specialists, exchange of experience and provision of technical assistance. Following the dialogue, the parties expressed their readiness to continue interaction.
