The President of Uzbekistan has appointed a first deputy and two deputies to the Minister of Education and Science, the ministry reported.

The First Deputy Minister became Oybek Yuldashev, who previously headed the consulting practice for the public sector, infrastructure and ESG at PwC Uzbekistan. Mekhriniso Pardaeva was appointed as Deputy Minister: prior to this, she was the head of the department at the Republican Scientific and Methodological Center for Education Development. The third appointee was Sanzhar Mirzaliyev, who worked as the executive director of the Belarusian-Uzbek Interindustry Institute of Applied Technical Qualifications before joining the ministry.

The ministry itself was established by presidential decree No. УП-213 of October 3, 2026: it merged the Ministry of Preschool and School Education and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovations. On October 9, the former khokim of Syrdarya region, Erkinjon Turdimov, became the Minister and simultaneously took the post of First Deputy Prime Minister.

As Uznews previously reported, Ilhom Siradzhiev was appointed as Deputy Minister for Compliance and Internal Anti-Corruption Control, who previously held the post of Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration for Education Reform.

The new ministry will oversee universities, schools, preschool institutions and professional education organizations. It will also establish requirements for educational activities, conduct accreditation and licensing.
